Manito Ahbee: Attend a Celebration of Indigenous Arts With Respect
Follow the current program and hosts’ guidance at Manito Ahbee.
Manito Ahbee celebrates Indigenous arts and culture, with programming that includes its powwow and opportunities to encounter artists, makers and community initiatives. The 2026 edition was scheduled for October 30 to November 1 at Canada Life Centre, a reminder that older spring listings should not be treated as a permanent calendar.
Use the current invitation
Confirm the year, venue, schedule and admission arrangements before making plans. Choose a part of the program you can attend with time to listen and learn, rather than arriving only for a quick photograph.
Follow the hosts and announcers
Powwows and cultural presentations have protocols that should come from the people hosting them. Listen for guidance about standing, participation, photography and recording. If you are unsure, ask an appropriate organizer instead of guessing or copying another visitor.
Make room for the marketplace
When a marketplace is part of the program, speak respectfully with makers about their work. Ask about materials and care instructions, and purchase according to your budget. Do not treat cultural items as props for an unrelated costume.
Families can prepare by discussing attentive listening and permission before taking pictures. Keep practical needs—tickets, access, meals and transport—organized so you can give the event your attention. Future editions may change their dates and format; the organizer’s latest announcement should guide your calendar, while the spirit of the visit should be respect and curiosity.
