Winnipeg Book Festival: A Fall Outing for Readers

Discover authors and conversations through Winnipeg’s evolving literary festival.

← Autumn in Winnipeg

Winnipeg’s fall literary gathering has entered a new chapter: Plume Winnipeg’s current information identifies the Winnipeg Book Festival, formerly known as THIN AIR. The 2026 event took place at The Forks, but future venues and dates should be checked in the latest program.

Choose a conversation, not only a famous name

Browse the subjects and formats as well as the author list. A discussion about place, memory or writing can be rewarding even when you have not read the featured books. Pick one session with a topic you already care about and another that stretches your reading habits.

Check how admission works

Read each event’s registration and access information. Do not assume that every session uses the same venue or admission arrangement. If you want to buy a book or attend a signing, allow time for that separately.

Make it a shared reading plan

With a friend or book club, read a short official excerpt beforehand and bring one genuine question. You do not need to finish several books to belong in the audience. During a question period, keep the question concise and make space for others.

After the festival, choose one book you want to read rather than buying a stack out of obligation. Keep the organizer’s current site bookmarked: older listings under THIN AIR may still appear in search results, but they should not be used as the schedule for a new edition.
